is imprisoned in 13 century. Till
now one
can enter the very whole
where he has
suffered 13 years. The main
church St. Astvatsatsin has been built in 17 th century. One can actually see the green belt along the Arax River
which denotes the boundary with Turkey from the monastery. In case of nice
weather it’s possible to see Mt. Ararat as well. Areni-Surb Astvacacin of Areni(“Holy
Mother of Areni Church”) single-nave
two-aisled domed church completed
in the year 1321. It is located a
top of plateau overlooking the
arpa River and in the village of Areni. Noravank(XII-XVIcc) is located in Noravank canyon. the canyon is rich w ith the
flora, medicinal herbs, wild fruit, springs and different
animals. It is mostly populat
with its red rocks.
Jermuk is a small resort town in the zone of favorable climatic conditions, with cool summers and
wild winters. Jermuk is
surrounded by woods and alpine meadows. The supplies of the
mineral water give the opportunity to enlarge the net of the resort-homes and the hotels.

is unknown, although in the
History of Armenians, movses Khorenatsi
mentions it as I c. B.C. The
temple is a pagan type and was

pagan temple , the bath-house wwith its
underground heating system,

Geghardavank –The main monastery complex
was built in XIII century. Now Geghard
is an acting church and open museum
with its rock-carved cells and

capital of Armenia since 550-560 B.C. After the adoption of Christianity as an official
religion(301 A.C), the King Trdat III destroyed
the temple of vagharshapat and counded in its place
the Mother Cathedral of St. Ejmiatsin. On the

buildings of mainly
civil nature and churches were
later added up: St. Hripsime, St.
Gayane, Shoghakat, Zvartnots and many others. There are all
